Perryville, MD., May 2, 2024 – Medline, a market-leading manufacturer and supplier of medical supplies and solutions, and PowerFlex, a clean technology solutions company making the transformation to carbon-free electrification and transportation possible, today announced plans for a new $2.37 million solar installation at Medline’s distribution center in Perryville, Maryland. The investment will include over 2,400 solar panels and is expected to offset 46% of the facility’s total electrical usage.

“At Medline, we are unwavering in our commitment to making healthcare run better and building an environmentally sustainable business by investing in green technologies,” said Francesca Olivier, Medline’s Vice President of ESG. “Our continued investment in solar energy is one part of Medline’s broader sustainability strategy to decarbonize our operations.”

The Perryville project marks Medline’s 11th solar installation and will add to the 60,000 solar panels installed at Medline facilities across the globe. Since 2016, Medline has invested over $34 million in solar energy.

“We are delighted to continue our partnership with Medline through this new solar installation in Perryville. This initiative is not just about producing energy; it’s about setting a precedent for sustainable operations in the healthcare industry,” said PowerFlex CEO, Raphael Declercq. “At PowerFlex, we are committed to transforming energy management with intelligent solutions that pave the way for a cleaner, more sustainable future. The Perryville project is a shining example of how strategic collaborations can significantly enhance sustainable practices across industries.”

Medline’s Perryville distribution center, which opened in 2019 and employs 650 employees, is a key part of the healthcare supplier’s robust supply chain network. The 1.1 million square foot facility services healthcare providers throughout the region and boasts the latest automation technology.

“Medline’s continued investment exemplifies how our community is a great place to do business in a sustainable manner while tapping into a robust talent pool,” said Matt Roath, Mayor of Perryville.

The Perryville solar installation will begin this summer and is expected to be completed in the spring of 2025.
