Fostering a comforting environment is crucial in healthcare, and leaders at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) are continually looking for new ways to further that goal. Now, working with Medline, the hospital system is overhauling their textile and linen offerings with an eye on improving patient comfort and satisfaction while also driving cost efficiencies and process improvements.
The new suite of textiles, including gowns, sheets, blankets and pillowcases, make advancements in both patient satisfaction and cost efficiency. Soft linens can add a touch of comfort and feeling of home to a patient. At the same time, a new generation of synthetic and organic fibers also help increase durability and protection against stains and color loss. In addition to new product offerings, UAMS has been worked closely with Medline on a series of process improvements to streamline the distribution of linens across the facility.
“It is so exciting to be able to offer upgraded linens for our patients,” says Christina Clark, Chief Operations Officer of UAMS. “We have received very positive feedback from our patients especially regarding the soft new blankets.”
While textiles might not always get the same amount of attention as other areas of healthcare, leaders at UAMS have shown they understand the key role they can and do play in a holistic approach to patient care.
