The Village of Grayslake, Illinois Economic Development Commission (EDC) has awarded Medline its 2022 Economic Development Award.

The Economic Development Award is given each year to businesses, organizations or individuals that “promote an environment that provides for additional job opportunities and/or make significant contributions to the expansion of the community’s tax base and generation of additional revenues in the area’s economy.”

Last year, Medline officially opened a 1.4-million-square-foot flagship logistics center – the largest medical-grade distribution center in the country – in the Cornerstone Business Park in southwest Grayslake.

“Medline’s pioneering spirit has been very helpful in advancing development in the area, and will hopefully bring thousands of local jobs and expand the tax base,” said Mayor Rhett Taylor during the award ceremony on January 18.

“Medline is proud to have our flagship distribution center located in Grayslake, and proud of our commitment to this vibrant community,” said Will Ingalls, Medline senior director of operations. “We are humbled to receive this prestigious award from the Grayslake Economic Development Commission, and look forward to a continued, successful partnership.”

Medline currently manages six facilities throughout Lake County, Illinois, including offices, and manufacturing and distribution facilities, employing more than 3,000 team members. Medline works with local small businesses, spending approximately $2.5 million annually for maintenance, upkeep and operations. The company also supports local organizations, and in 2022, Medline distributed more than $400,000 in grants and in-kind donations to Lake County nonprofits. All total, Medline’s economic impact in Lake County is close to $1.3 billion.
