Medline triples the size of its operations in Anchorage, Alaska

New distribution center opens to serve growing customer base

Medline today opened the doors to its new distribution center in Anchorage, Alaska. The 145,000-square foot space is triple the size of the distribution center Medline previously operated in the same region. The facility will add another 35 jobs to its existing 20-member team to support the company’s growing customer base.

“Medline has been growing to meet the needs of healthcare providers in Alaska, and we are excited to move into our new home,” said Bill Abington, Medline executive vice president for global operations. “The added team members and new facility ensures we will continue to be on the leading edge of healthcare to support our customers.”

The $43 million medical-grade distribution center will ship tens of thousands of individual products and devices to healthcare providers across the region, including hospitals, nursing homes, ambulatory surgery centers, hospices and physician offices. It will utilizes the latest technology to efficiently deliver products, including:

– An advanced robotic picking system
– Hands-free voice picking systems
– A wireless communications system

“We invested in the industry’s most advanced technology to manage the complex needs of our customers. Healthcare professionals are facing new challenges working on the frontlines and they are counting on Medline to support them each day,” Abington said.
