Hammond, Louisiana is home to majestic oak trees, vibrant street festivals and soon, a 650-thousand square foot Medline distribution center slated to open next year.

“We’re working together on a project that not only balances economic development, but is supporting Louisiana healthcare and the needs of this community,” said Bill Abington, executive vice president of operations at Medline.

State and local officials marked the occasion this March with a groundbreaking ceremony.

“Medline is a great company,” said Louisiana Gov. John Bel Edwards. “They’ve already been in Louisiana for almost 20 years but to have them expanding here, at this time in Louisiana, with an investment of more than $40 million, and projected to create more than a thousand jobs, both direct and indirect permanent. 350 jobs alone on the construction. This is just tremendous for this region of our state.”

This is the latest example of the company’s consistent strategy for growth to help healthcare run better.

The facility will cover the Southeast region of the United States. This includes  the entire state of Louisiana and supporting Mississippi, Florida and Texas.

Company officials say the location will also stock a substantial breadth of products and tens of millions of dollars of inventory to make sure Medline can serve the healthcare needs of this region.

The Medline Healthcare Development and Resilience Initiative is designed to pump millions of dollars each year into infrastructure upgrades and expansions. All this to strengthen the country’s healthcare supply chain for facilities all across the continuum of care.

Local investments with far-reaching impact.
