How Houston Methodist is Freeing Resources Up for Patient Care

By Medline Newsroom Staff | May 1, 2019

To keep up with demands to improve care and control costs, supply chain leaders at best-in-class health systems are leveraging their partnerships, internally with clinicians and physicians, and externally with strategic partners. This strategic evolution is playing out across the country, just one way the role of supply chain is changing. Now a recently announced partnership between Houston Methodist and Medline is the latest example of how forward-thinking health systems are reaching out to external partners to improve efficiency, patient safety and satisfaction.

As part of the new integrated supply chain partnership, Houston Methodist will leverage Medline’s supply chain and logistic expertise in fresh ways to save money and time, which the health system can invest in patient experience and clinical outcomes. Medline is finalizing possible sites on a new 1.3 million square foot distribution center that will house central receiving, case cart picking, and consolidated sterile processing services for the system. Houston Methodist will also be implementing Medline’s Put-Away-Ready™ solution, which delivers supplies unpacked and pre-organized to different areas of a facility, helping time-strapped clinicians and staff avoid “looking for their keys.”
