Medline Team Fulfills Mission in Honduras
By Francesca Olivier | September 6, 2018
For the second medical service trip of Medline’s corporate social responsibility program, Medline has partnered with One World Surgery to bring the same expertise that Medline bring to its customers to the Holy Family Surgery Center in Tegucigalpa, Honduras.
In February, One World Surgery Center partnered with Medline and a team was sent to identify their pain points and how the company’s expertise could be utilized to address their needs.
The facility provides free life-changing surgeries to the poorest in their community. As the organization has grown, so has the pressure on its supply chain and inventory management since it brings best-in-class surgery centers in the United States to countries where no such facilities exist. Since its inception, their first location Holy Family Surgery Center in Tegucigalpa, Honduras, has performed thousands of procedures at no cost to the patient. With continued growth, the strain on their supply chain followed suit.
Medline’s team of experts is transforming their operational performance with pro-bono warehouse optimization and perioperative supply utilization projects to improve efficiencies and better patient outcomes.
