50 nonprofit organizations benefit from Medline Month of Service
By Medline Newsroom Staff | November 29, 2022
Hundreds of Medline employees volunteered more than 1,000 hours to aid 50 nonprofit organizations during the company’s second annual Month of Service in November.
Medline’s Month of Service encourages and incentivizes company employees to participate in organized volunteer activities – in person or virtual – throughout the month of November. Employees can choose from a list of Medline-organized volunteer events, find a volunteer opportunity through a matching database or on their own, or donate to select organizations. Among the highlights of the 2022 Month of Service:
- Packing nearly 39,000 meals, enough to feed 106 kids experiencing malnutrition for one year, for Feed My Starving Children.
- Packing 6,750 pounds of food, providing 5,625 meals, for the Northern Illinois Food Bank.
- Creating more than 120 “tug rope” dog toys for the Anti-Cruelty Society.
- Creating more than 150 cards, providing positive wishes for seniors and individuals with disabilities receiving Meals on Wheels services.

This year’s event also included a “Dress for Success Donation Drive,” sponsored by the Medline Women’s Employee Resource Group; a Craft Day benefitting community members with disabilities in partnership with TotalLink2 Community; and an American Red Cross blood donation drive.
“During the Month of Service and throughout the year, Medline employees lead the way in helping to improve the health and well-being of communities in need, including those where we live and work,” said Medline Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Senior Manager Evelyn Miller. “We are proud of their ongoing commitment in addressing social determinants of health – the social, economic and environmental conditions that influence disparities in health status and care.”

Participation in Month of Service activities is not mandatory; however, employees who volunteer can earn up to $250 for donation to the charity served through the “Dollars for Doer’s” program. In addition, employees who are making a difference in their communities through volunteerism, fundraising or nonprofit board service also can nominate a charity to receive up to $3,000 through Medline’s Employee Recognition Program.
Employee Recognition Program grant recipients
This year, the 15 nonprofits receiving grants on behalf of “outstanding employees that exemplify Medline’s values” ($45,000, total) are: Alderwood-Terrace Rotary Club in Lynwood, Washington; Aspiritech, Highland Park, Illinois; Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southern Arizona, Tucson, Arizona; Boulder Shelter for the Homeless, Boulder, Colorado; Feed My Starving Children, Coon Rapids, Minnesota; Hispanic American Community Education and Services (HACES), Waukegan, Illinois; Kimberly Home, Clearwater, Florida; Kirk Players, Mundelein, Illinois; Mothers Trust Foundation, Lake Forest, Illinois; My Density Matters, Hawthorn Woods, Illinois; Oasis of Mercy Food Pantry, Mechanicsburg, Ohio; Pads Lake County, Waukegan, Illinois; Tutoring Chicago, Chicago, Illinois; United Way of Lake County, Gurnee, Illinois; and Youth & Opportunity United, Evanston, Illinois.
The Month of Service is part of Medline’s Community Impact program, which works to address social determinants of health in the communities where employees live and work. The company’s Medline Service Corps volunteers their time and talents to advance health equity locally and abroad, and the company’s Medline CARES (Community, Action, Resources, Education and Solutions) program invests human and financial resources in markets where Medline has a presence. In 2021, 950 Service Corps members and 1,327 unique employee volunteers provided more than 6,800 volunteer hours valued at $205,127, and made donations totaling $81,270.
