Northfield, Ill., January 24, 2024 – Medline announced a multi-year prime vendor partnership to provide its extensive portfolio of medical supplies and solutions to Surgery Center of Fort Wayne in Indiana. The independent, privately-owned ambulatory surgery center (ASC) features two operating rooms designed for joint, spine and pain management surgical solutions and other related procedures.
Some of the out-patient procedures available at the facility include hip and knee revision and replacements, computer-assisted surgery, pain treatment for surgical or chronic pain, and other corrective interventions.
Under the terms of the five-year agreement, Surgery Center of Fort Wayne has access to Medline’s comprehensive medical surgical portfolio – including custom surgical packs, pharma, ASC capital and other necessary equipment and supplies. Team members also have the ability to easily monitor key metrics such as item utilization, contract compliance, price accuracy and spend by product categories through advanced analytics platforms from Medline.
“Medline helps us streamline and standardize across our entire operation without sacrificing quality of care,” said Amber Baumgartner, RN and executive director of Surgery Center of Fort Wayne. “From medical-surgical supplies and gloves to Robust Pack programs and space utilization, we’re leaning into Medline’s product portfolio and clinical expertise to enhance efficiency and outcomes.”
The Surgery Center of Fort Wayne and Medline partnership was forged in the throes of the pandemic, when Medline first helped open the facility in 2020. Medline’s offering of custom and minor packs in particular has enhanced center operations significantly, improving inventory and storeroom processes and easing clinician workload. The center integrates packs from pre-op to total joint replacement CDS into its care.
Medline’s productive relationship to the Surgery Center’s sister location in Indianapolis, IN – Capitol Street Surgery Center –paved the way for the two organizations’ current prime vendor partnership.
“Surgery Center of Fort Wayne is well-known in the community it serves for excellent patient experience and care,” said Medline spokesperson, “We are proud to support its continued growth in capabilities and services.”
