GripAble® and Medline partner to expand distribution of two-in-one hand therapy platform

Innovative hand and arm function assessment and training device pairs with mobile technology platform to improve patient outcomes

Medline today announced an exclusive distribution agreement with GripAble, creator of a two-in-one hand and arm function assessment and training device with an interactive mobile technology platform designed to track rehabilitation progress and provide real-time biofeedback. The GripAble Pro is widely applicable to many caseloads, including neurological rehabilitation, pediatrics, and hand therapy. It was developed for therapists to serve more patients, more efficiently, and with better outcomes – face-to-face or remotely – by incorporating technology with manual repetition exercises and treatment.

“GripAble has revolutionized my world and to be bringing this device to my fellow therapists is a privilege,” said Nicola Goldsmith MSc SROT, clinical director at GripAble. “Hand therapy is my clinical background, and my patients are already benefitting from GripAble’s diversity in objective grip assessment and the engagement of the activities.”

The GripAble Pro handheld device connects to an app on a tablet and tracks four key hand movements – grip and release, wrist flexion and extension, pronation and supination, and radial and ulnar deviation – along with overall strength, repetitions, and minutes of training. The platform empowers therapists to assess and train core hand movements while tracking training activity and enabling users to engage in fun activities designed to build motivation to maintain their essential training programs.

“The ability to personalize goals and treatment for each individual, recalibrate as they improve, and provide motivating and fun activities enhances my practice,” said Goldsmith. “I love that I can monitor my patients as they work daily at home, and they love the ability to clearly see their progress.”

GripAble is already used in more than 350 healthcare and rehabilitation locations worldwide, and the company has plans to develop and expand its physical and cognitive rehabilitation platform. As part of the agreement, Medline will be the exclusive U.S. distributor of the GripAble Pro product to therapy providers across the continuum of care.

“We are excited about the opportunity to expand our portfolio with an innovative rehabilitation technology. Gathering objective and measurable progress is more important than ever,” said Brian Garner, vice president of therapy and rehabilitation for Medline. “GripAble provides an interactive environment that makes rehabilitation fun while tracking performance.”
