From the Experts: Challenges & Solutions in Assisted Living Today

Change has been a constant, and more change is coming for assisted living providers. Regulations, statutes and policies in 23 states were changed according to the 2016 edition of the Assisted Living State Regulatory Review. Assisted Living, as an industry, is more of a consumer driven market versus a medical market. With acuity going up in this setting, it is moving more toward a medical model.

What better way to focus on the challenges and to come up with solutions than to turn to the industry experts themselves? Recently, Medline invited prominent voices in assisted living for a discussion on their concerns, what’s working and what they would like to see as more change is headed their way in the future. Three main ideas that surfaced included quality, data and the regulations impacting assisted living.

In this video, you’ll hear from the executive director of the National Center of Assisted Living (NCAL), Scott Tittle; vice president of quality for Sunrise Senior Living, Ed McMahon; and president, CEO and founder of Evergreen Estates, Pat Giorgio. They have more than 60 years of combined experience in the post-acute arena, and they shared their insights as to what’s shaping assisted living today and what providers can do to deliver the best outcomes.
