Repeat honor for Medline as CEO Boyle again makes ‘Most Influential People’ list

Inclusion at No. 27 spot in Modern Healthcare’s annual recognition of top industry leaders is another testament to company’s role

Medline doesn’t just have a seat at the table when it comes to shaping the conversation across healthcare – it continues to have an influential voice.

Jim Boyle, who became CEO in 2023, appears at No. 27 in the 2025 edition of Modern Healthcare’s 100 Most Influential People in Healthcare, released Monday. It’s his second consecutive year on the list. And he’s in stellar company, joined by top policymakers and leaders from some of the most prominent U.S. hospital systems, healthcare associations, academic institutions and insurance providers.

The leaders chosen for the list, and their order, were determined by their industry peers and Modern Healthcare’s senior editors based on the advancements they and their organizations drove this year in patient care, healthcare policy and operational excellence.

Boyle, who began at Medline in 1996 as a sales representative, has focused heavily on customer service and growth in his two years as CEO while stressing Medline’s longstanding approach of getting high-quality products and services to customers across all points of care at lower costs. This year under his leadership, Medline also has prioritized supply chain resiliency supported by new technological enhancements, continued product innovation and a company culture fiercely focused on problem-solving and peace of mind for the customer.

“Jim leads with clarity and agility, and it shows in our culture,” said Christopher Shryock, chief human resources officer, who came to Medline in 2024. “He has a talent for keeping us focused on what matters most: making healthcare run better for our customers and the patients they serve. It’s no surprise to see him recognized among the most influential leaders in healthcare. By building strong relationships and empowering teams, he drives meaningful impact for our team, our partners and the industry.”

Doug Golwas, chief commercial officer, has been with Medline since 2008 and knows Boyle’s leadership style well.

“Jim has a rare ability to bring people together around a shared mission and move the organization forward with real momentum,” Golwas said. “He keeps us close to our customers and grounded in what creates the most value for them. This recognition reflects the impact he’s had not only on Medline, but on the healthcare community.”

Boyle credits his inclusion on the list to the more than 43,000 employees worldwide whose resilience and problem-solving allow Medline to make healthcare run better each day.

“I am honored to be recognized by Modern Healthcare, but we would not be able to grow or succeed without the generations of Medline employees who continuously demonstrate grit, integrity and a relentless commitment to serving healthcare providers,” Boyle said.

Before Boyle’s initial inclusion last year, Medline previously was represented on the 100 Most Influential list in 2021, when former CEO Charlie Mills and former president Andy Mills were included jointly.
