Medline again has been named to the Chicago Tribune’s Top Workplaces list, recognizing companies where “employees enjoy their work, embrace their mission and feel like valued teammates.

“A year ago, workplaces were still getting their hands around an unprecedented global pandemic,” according to the Tribune. “Our annual Top Workplaces report focused on how companies were navigating work-from-home issues including remote onboarding and work-life balance. Companies were also taking a deep look at their own diversity efforts.”

The list includes 200 small, medium and large companies selected based on employee survey results administered between June 19 and 21 of this year. Medline employs nearly 30,000 people globally, and has been named to the Top Workplaces list for 11 of the past 12 years.

“Every day, Medline employees bring lifesaving medical supplies – including products critical to the fight against COVID-19—to health providers around the world,” said Medline Chief Human Resources Officer Karen Ferraro. “Our employees are at the heart of our success as a company, and Medline is committed to their professional growth and well-being. We also strive to create an inclusive environment where every employee feels valued and celebrated.

“It’s an honor to be recognized among the Chicago Tribune’s 2021 Top Workplaces” said Ferraro.

The surveys were administered by Energage, a leading provider of employee engagement tools. Operating on behalf of the Chicago Tribune, Energage surveyed nearly 3,000 Medline employees at random to assess everything from work-life balance to company leadership, communication and career opportunities.

According to the survey, the majority of employees agreed that Medline operates by strong values and is going in the right direction. Employees also said they feel valued and appreciated, that their work is meaningful and that new ideas are encouraged.

During the pandemic, Medline helped employees working at home by reimbursing them for office supply purchases and enhancing virtual communication capabilities. Medline also supports employee mental health and well-being and offers a wide range of health benefits, training and development opportunities, and wellness programs, including free virtual meditation and fitness classes. Employees who go above and beyond in their role are also recognized through the Jim Mills Excellence Award, an annual awards program named after one of Medline’s late founders.

In addition to receiving the Chicago Tribune Top Workplace recognition, Medline was also named to LinkedIn’s 2021 Top Chicago Companies and  Forbes Best Employer for 2021 lists.
