Medline Conference Experiences: A Year in Review
By Medline Newsroom Staff | December 26, 2018
At Medline, we are always looking for new ways to bring educational experiences and resources to our customers. Over the past year Medline has participated in conferences around the country connecting with healthcare professionals from across the globe. Here are a few highlights from 2018.
Medline brought The Pulse Live on the road for the first time at The Symposium of Advanced Wound Care this past April. The Pulse is Medline’s source for the latest in healthcare business news. This on-site news program featured more than a dozen key industry experts in skin health and advanced wound care including renowned wound care expert Dr. Gregory Schultz, University of Florida professor and Director of the Institute for Wound Research, and Terry Swanson, wound management nurse practitioner at South West Health Care in Victoria, Australia and lead author of the 2016 International Wound Infection Institute (IWII) Consensus Update. Attendees viewed the show live and interacted with the experts while viewers at home watched the show in real time.
The live news program interview approach brought a fresh take on your typical conference presentation. Conference attendees had a front row seat, clinicians at home could watch live and after the conference, anyone could watch the expert interviews again.
The Pulse mimicked the feeling of being in a live studio audience of a daytime talk show. The audience participated in demos and conversations with the key opinion leaders and Medline experts. This sparked discussions about trends and problems that many clinicians face every day and ways we can work to alleviate the challenges.
Stay tuned for the The Pulse Live at conferences in 2019.
Perioperative nurses from around the world gathered at Medline’s 13th annual breast cancer awareness breakfast at the AORN Global Surgical Conference and Expo. The breakfast brings nurses together to increase awareness and celebrate survivors. Medline is committed to this cause and has donated over $2 million to programs for breast cancer awareness, prevention and early detection. Every year attendees look forward to the “Pink Glove Dance” and supporting a cause close to many of their hearts.
This year, attendees had the chance to hear inspirational speaker and best-selling author and clinician, LeAnn Thieman, discuss the importance of finding work life balance in nurses’ hectic lives. Thieman asked nurses, “What is the number one priority in your life and are you living it?” She encouraged attendees to find strength and balance in their mind, body and spirit.
Theiman has over 30 years of nursing experience and uses her own stories to inspire fellow nurses. She is the best-selling author of “Chicken Soup for the Caregiver’s Soul,” “Chicken Soup for the Soul,” “Inspiration for Nurses” and “SelfCare for HealthCare.” Her special book signing at the Medline trade show booth drew quite the crowd. Hundreds of attendees interacted with LeAnn one-on-one and received a signed copy of one of her books.
ANCC National MAGNET Conference
More than 10,000 nurses from over 20 countries gathered at the ANCC National Magnet Conference in October. The conference focuses on innovation and education for nurses. At the Medline booth, nurses visited our Discovery Hub where they viewed our new and innovative products before they hit the market. Including the input of nurses at the design and development phase ensures our products provide valuable solutions. Medline is always looking for opportunities to improve the patient experience.
Nurses entered the hub and saw some of the new Medline solutions made to solve problems that nurses face every day. Many of Medline’s products are designed by nurses for nurses and the discovery hub offered a new setting to learn more about the obstacles nurses face and how products can be adapted to fix these issues. It was the ideal setting to have group conversations and gain valuable feedback from those using our products every day.
Medline is always searching for new ways to connect with healthcare professionals to spark important conversations and collaboration to bring innovative and problem-solving solutions to the field.
