Medline representatives joined U.S. Rep. Trey Hollingsworth, and local healthcare providers and community leaders from southern Indiana and the greater Louisville area, to formally open and celebrate the company’s 1.1 million-square-foot distribution center in the River Ridge Commerce Center.

Construction on the $70 million, state-of-the-art facility in Jeffersonville, Indiana was completed in late 2019; however, the pandemic delayed a grand opening.

“Today, we celebrate Jeffersonville, this facility, and the more than 250 employees who have worked tirelessly over the past three years to ensure the consistent, timely delivery of face masks and other critical medical supplies to area front line healthcare workers,” said Steve Miller, Medline executive vice president, supply chain.

The distribution center serves hospitals and healthcare facilities across the continuum of care in Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio and Tennessee, with a transportation fleet of 45 MedTrans vehicles. The event included remarks, an employee recognition ceremony and facility tour.

The new Jeffersonville facility is part of Medline’s ongoing Healthcare Resilience Initiative (HRI), a national, $2 billion dollar capital campaign funding new distribution centers, manufacturing capabilities and information technology upgrades. Since 2018, HRI has delivered approximately 8,500 new jobs, eight new distribution centers, nearly 150 manufacturing expansion projects and a new global digital customer ordering platform.

“During the last few years, Medline has made a significant investment in our infrastructure and employees – all to serve our clients better,” said Miller.

Wendy Dent Chesser, president and CEO of One Southern Indiana Chamber of Commerce, said there are three reasons why her organization is grateful for Medline.

“First, it’s a great company doing great work in an industry that needs excellence,” said Chesser. “Secondly, the investment in our community. A 1.1 million-square-foot facility is truly a way of putting roots down and saying ‘we are here to stay.’ And third and finally, the employment base that Medline is helping support in Southern Indiana. We’re thrilled to have 200 plus employees here now, and we hope to see and help that grow.”

Medline, the nation’s largest family-owned manufacturer and distributor of medical products, serves 60 of the nation’s top 150 healthcare systems. The company distributes 300,000 unique medical products, including 65,000+ manufactured by Medline, to hospitals, physician offices, long-term care facilities, ambulatory surgery centers and other healthcare facilities.

“We’re grateful to celebrate this facility with our customers, local officials and partner organizations, including One Southern Indiana Chamber of Commerce, Jobs for America’s Graduates, Southern Indiana Works and Align Southern Indiana,” said Miller. “Thank you for welcoming and supporting us over the past three years, and for helping us make healthcare run better.”
