Medline Acquires Suture Express

Specialty distributor deepens Medline business in sutures and endomechanical products

By Medline Newsroom Staff | November 17, 2019

Medline announced today it has acquired Suture Express, the nation’s leading specialty distributor of suture, endomechanical, mesh and energy products, effective November 13, 2019.

Suture Express will operate as an independent subsidiary of Medline and will be led by Billy Abrams, Division President of Distributed Products and managed by current Chief Operating Officer, Pat Davis. Suture Express CEO Jay Istvan will exit the business to pursue other opportunities. All other Suture Express employees will continue on with the company as it operates independently in a business-as-usual manner.

“Medline has long been impressed with Suture Express’s distribution business and strong service reputation,” said Abrams. “This strategic move will deepen Medline’s business in the areas of sutures and endo. More than anything, we appreciate that Suture Express puts customers first, a philosophy that Medline has shared for generations.”

Suture Express maintains two Kansas-based corporate offices with nearly 50 employees, including five full-time sales reps.
