Medline and the State of North Carolina today announced a new, 1.2 million square foot distribution center to be built in Mebane, North Carolina. This will be the company’s second distribution center in North Carolina, bringing Medline’s total distribution square footage in the state to 1.6 million.
“As we expand our footprint to help reach more healthcare providers in the Southeast, Mebane is an ideal location for a distribution facility. The immediate proximity to major highways enables easy transport of supplies to healthcare providers,” says Bill Abington, executive vice president of Global Operations for Medline. “In addition, the county’s breadth and depth of primary, secondary and collegiate education is the foundation for an excellent local workforce and enables Medline to help team members continue to grow in their own education and careers”
With more than 50 distribution centers across the country, Medline currently has 15 projects in the pipeline to open new distribution facilities across the country in order to meet an increase in product demands from healthcare providers.
The facility will initially create 250 new full-time jobs that will provide health, educational and retirement benefits. At full capacity, Medline anticipates the new Orange County operation will boast as many as 600 jobs. The company anticipates construction will be completed by the end of 2020 with the facility opening by summer 2021.
